Brass Honeycomb Core
High conductivity, solderable, RF-shielding

High conductivity, solderable, RF-shielding
Expanded brass foil, used where ventilation has to pass air while blocking electromagnetic energy. The dense array of conductive cells behaves as an array of waveguides-below-cutoff, attenuating RF across a wide band while keeping airflow open. Brass solders readily, so cores integrate cleanly into shielded enclosures, screen rooms and waveguide hardware.
- Density
- 290 – 900 kg/m³ (18 – 56 pcf)
- Service temp
- to ~200 °C
Strengths
- Excellent electrical conductivity for EMI/RFI shielding
- Solderable — integrates into shielded enclosures
- High attenuation while maintaining open airflow
- Corrosion-resistant without plating
Watch for
- High density — specified for shielding, not light structure
- Higher cost than aluminium
- Not intended as a primary load-bearing core
Typical applications
EMI/RFI shielded ventilation panelsScreened rooms and anechoic chambersMicrowave and waveguide hardwareInstrument and enclosure venting
